Email worms such as Bagle, Netsky and Mydoom led the pack in the number of variants and overall impact. ►SpamchekWe scan your incoming email for viruses, and infected email will never reach your servers. This is a standard part of the Spamchek package, provided at no extra charge.Viruses continue to be one of the nuisances that threaten to interrupt work and even cause irreparable damage to business. Since the mid 1990s, virtually the only method of transport for viruses has been email. Through email you can reach millions of people at the same time and at virtually no cost. Once a PC or workstation is infected, certain types of virus will even "hijack" the PC and use it to further distribute more virus and/or spam. The costs of cleaning a virus-infected PC are negligible when compared to the less visible (and therefore more worrying) costs. When work is destroyed or the PC is hijacked, the damage done, including that to your reputation, can be very hard to estimate. Therefore, as is the case with most infections, prevention is far better and far easier than cure. Service objectivesOur primary objective is to remove the email virus threat altogether. A secondary objective is to inform you of the averted threats. We achieve our primary objective by employing a highly accurate virus scanner that detects all known viruses. Detecting unknown i.e. new viruses, is somewhat more complex. We apply a Spamchek-developed predictive methodology to identify possible viruses. Candidate emails are subsequently reviewed by our technical staff before they are released or quarantined. If a new virus is discovered, we cooperate closely with our providers to ensure a fast and smooth update of their databases. Our secondary objective - information - is achieved by providing regular reports to both your administrator(s) and your end-users. We inform you of the actual threat-levels, which and how many viruses we stopped etc. These reports are generally optional, although your administrators will always receive a summary at the very least. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
